WINEMAKER’S NOTES:
The 2021 Wente Southern Hills Cabernet Sauvignon is a classic example of an approachable California Cabernet. Clean and concise fruit leads every step of the way showcasing fresh blackberry, cassis, and black cherry which is supported by a delightful layering of oak-inspired flavors including chocolate and a touch of freshly baked gingerbread. The balanced, well-polished wine and the fruity substance, integrated oak, and underlying structure make it clear that this Wente fan favorite will drink beautifully for the next 3-5 years.
Blend: 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Petite Sirah, 3% Petit Verdot, 2% Malbec
TASTING NOTES:
This wine is rich, concentrated with aromas of dark cherry, plum, vanilla, violet and dried bay leaf on the nose. The flavors on the palate are blackberry, boysenberry, baked nectarine and allspice, sliding into mocha and espresso with leathery tannins. Hold or decant. Drink until 2035
