WINEMAKER’S NOTES:
Deep magenta in color with a crimson hue. Aromas of dark cherries and Satsuma plums with a lovely balance of savory and dried Mediterranean herbs, evocative of warm seaside escapes. The distinctive Cabernet Sauvignon tannins, guide across the palate of this bold and friendly Cabernet Sauvignon, showing why it is one of the world’s best known and enjoyed varieties. A lovely match for this wine is traditional homemade lasagna or sauteed Portobello mushrooms with rosemary and garlic.
TASTING NOTES:
Yalumba’s everyday reds tend to have a brightness and approachability about them, and this latest Cab doesn’t disappoint. The nose is a lovely combo of currant and red berry backed by graphite, eucalyptus and large helpings of spice. The palate feels a touch warm on the alcohol front. It’s bone-dry and cinched by raspy tannins, the fruit taking a back seat to lovely layers of texture and tannin. An excellent intro to South Aussie Cabernet. Drink now–2028.
