TASTING NOTES:
In 2015, the vines were quite young – planted in 2000 – but the quality of Asili definitely shines through. Fresh and dried rose petal, black pepper, sweet spice, black tea, fresh earth, and a bit of leather join the core of sweet, ripe, strawberry fruit on the quiet nose and expansive palate. Minerality comes up with air while the tannins stay quite firm, but ripe, with just enough acidity to keep the flavors driving through a focused finish. Fun to taste with 2 hours in decanter, better after 3-4 years in cellar and drinking well through 2030 and beyond.
